How lucky am I?

This is who I get to spend all day every day with.
These two are so great! The older Claire gets the more Caleb interacts with her. He is so sweet to her and is totally a great big brother. Yesterday I went to run errands like get the oil changed and fun stuff like that and these two were such good kids. It takes longer, but I actually enjoy taking them places with me. Caleb is SO good and just holds my hand or onto the stroller and goes wherever we go! And Claire is SUCH a good, happy little girl!
Plus they keep me entertained.
For example, I went to get my ring cleaned and checked and it took about 10 minutes. The girl put my ring in to soak and went into the back office, which has windows out to the front. Caleb kept looking at the girl and waving at her and just cracking up when she waved back. It was so funny. Then they had a door off its hinges leaning up against the wall so when she came out Caleb asked her why. She explained that they were putting new tile in the hallway that the door led to so they took it off to do that. My smart little Caleb said, "I know a better way. They should have just opened the door." DUH!!! He's funny.

While I am it...

I'll tell you why Chloe is awesome too! She's such a smart little girl! Her teacher told me that she is such a great student and she's one of the ones that everyone notices when she's absent and misses her. She is an awesome speller and has gotten 105% on every spelling test except one where she forgot to put the "s" in dinosaur (They have 5 challenge words every week...that's where the extra 5% comes from). She's WAY ahead in reading. Her teacher said her reading level is easily in 3rd or 4th grade or further. She is super creative and always coming up with games to play. She makes new friends really easily and includes people that feel left out. I told her the other day about a mom that I talked to who's daughter is in Chloe's class. The mom told me her daughter was shy and had a hard time making new friends and wasn't having very much fun at recess. I told Chloe and she has played with the girl ever since. She LOVES to give talks in primary and always does an awesome job. And she's super lucky because Santa Clause is her primary teacher....really, he is (I'll have to get a picture for you)!

We definitely have our challenges too, but I really am thankful for such great kids. (I can brag once in a while, right?)

Wouldn't it be nice?

"I've been playing with toys and scooting around a lot this morning. I think I'll just lay my head down on the ground and sleep for a little while!"

I promise she has feet

I went to go help Caleb get in the shower for a couple minutes and found her out when I came back!

Disclaimer: I did it for Jeff!

Update: Jeff took the quiz (he saw it on the blog and did it himself...I wasn't even home! I didn't think he'd want to that's why I just did it for him). Anyway, when he did it he ended up being Emmett. I went through it with him and I think he's a good combo. (Not that it really matters or anyone really cares!) :)

Happy Veterans Day!
Thanks Dad and everyone else who has served and is serving our country!! I'm so grateful for you!!!

Happy Armistice Day!
In case you don't know, November 11th is the anniversary of the last day of World War I. Grams used to talk about how she was born on Armistice Day...the first one. November 11, 1918, the last day of the war.

Happy Birthday to Grams. She would have been 90 years old today! She lived a great life....totally healthy for almost 90 years!

Claire's new move

I was wondering the last couple days if she had been doing this. But today I caught her!

She's really getting around. I'm sure crawling is right around the corner!

As of Wednesday, she's EIGHT months old. Time goes by so fast. She's totally grabbing everything. She puts EVERYTHING in her mouth...except baby food. I've been trying to feed her it but I'm having a hard time getting her to open her mouth. She did really well with Rice cereal for a while, then she started gagging on it. So I bought some veggie baby food. She does better once it's in her mouth, but just feeding her 1/4 of a jar takes forever. Hopefully she'll get it soon!

This is what we woke up to this morning! The first snow! Chloe was SOOO excited and started singing some song about, "My dreams have come true."

I can't say that I'm totally excited. I'm happy for the kids, especially Chloe, because they love to play in it. But I am grateful that it didn't start in September like it did last year! I actually like a little bit of snow as long as it's not too cold or too much snow that never melts. I guess it really doesn't matter since I can't control it anyway.

Welcome Winter.

And all I'll say about last night is that I'm a little scared about the next four years! But yeah for prop 8!

Jeff's Halloween Costume...

So I had the idea for Jeff to be a goal post for Halloween. I talked to my mom and my neighbor and they helped me come up with the stadium behind it. I let the idea work in my head and kept coming up with more and more things. Unfortunately it was Thursday, the day before Halloween. I dropped the kids off at Jeff's parents' house around 4:00 and went shopping. I got back to pick them up and got home around 7:00, in enough time to straighten up the house for our home teachers to come at 7:30. As soon as they left, I got to work on the costume. And I worked and worked ALL night. I never went to bed. I worked on it until Jeff got up and ready for work in the morning. He didn't win first place ($1500...darn it!) but he did win 4 tickets to the Real Salt Lake play off game last night, so that was really fun. Here it is....

This was at the end of the day, so the stands were drooping and the hanging things had gotten a little tangled.

Description....The goal posts are shipping tubes from the UPS store. I bought a long sleeve white shirt and dyed it yellow (couldn't find the right color, so I had to dye a white one), he put brown face paint on his face and I cut a real football for him to put on his head (so his head is the football going through the goal posts). The stands are made of 3 foam boards which I scored and bent and attached together. And yes, the seats are all individual little pieces of cardstock, cut and folded. The white seats in the stands spell out Xango (the company he works for). His pants are supposed to be the pad around the bottom of the goal post. I bought a pair of sweats for him to wear, then a pair of 4xL pants which I cut and glued so it looked like the pad instead of just pants. Then I cut out the XANGO in orange felt and glued them to the "pad".

Here are close ups of the stands. I took pictures of Jeff doing different poses wearing a couple different Xango shirts. Then I got pictures of all the founders of the company and edited them so the heads were big, printed them all out, cut them and glued them to the bodies (JEff's body). THen we got pictures off the internet of people they like....there is Lavell Edwards, Aristotle, Mitt Romney, Bono, Lance Armstrong, Tiger Woods, Jack Nicholson, and of course we had to add Sarah Palin, Obama and Joe the plumber.

I hadn't seen the whole thing put together until late afternoon when I took the kids to his work for trick or treating. His face looked so gross when I saw him with that thick brown paint on it. The kids and I were laughing.
You thought I was done huh? Nope....

These are what were hanging. Jeff and his boss Bob are the refs holding up the field goal sign. (Jeff the ref (funny huh?)was "standing on grass too, but he ripped it off somehow during the day.) The cheerleader is a lady that is in charge of their new skin care line that they're launching next week. She's holding a bottle of the product, Glimpse.

UGH!!!! I'm tired again just thinking about it.

Halloween Festivities...

We went to Barnyard Boo on Monday...

First of all...did you EVER think you'd see this....

Chloe on a pony??? What a HUGE step for her.

Jeff and Caleb in front of the cow they were milking.

This is the Headless Horseman. Caleb was hilarious. The Headless Horseman came up to us on the wagon ride. The kids thought it was so cool. When we were walking out to go to the car Caleb said, "That's funny, I've never seen anyone without a head before. I thought everyone had heads."
Then a couple days later he asked me, "Why did Heavenly Father make a headless horseman?"
Me: "I don't know."
Caleb: "I thought he would just make everyone with heads because it's easier!"
Halloween day...

Batman got tired on the way home from Trick or Treating at XanGo

Chloe at her school parade. All the classes walk in a parade around the outside of the school so the parents can come see.

Chloe and Caleb with the pumpkins we carved. Mine is on the left, Chloe's is in the middle and Caleb's is on the right. Can you tell Chloe carved the mouth all by herself? She did a great job making it so big!

I was going to make our pumpkin have our name on it, but Chloe brought to my attention the fact that we have an "N" in our name before the "D"....oops! Can you tell I didn't sleep at all the night before?
